Meet Nonku
MOM. WIFE. CHILDREN’S BOOK AUTHOR. FULL-TIME HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL. TRAVELER. RUNNER. COOK. SCHEDULER. WEEKEND ADVENTURER.

Hello! I am Nonku, a proud mom of two young kids who love to read, sing, and dance. I enjoy reading to them and humming along to their lovely tunes. I am also a lucky wife to a wonderful husband who supports me in everything I do.

I love to inspire my children and other kids to embrace their uniqueness and diversity. I like to go for runs along lakeshore drive in Chicago, try new foods, read books, and challenge myself to grow. I enjoy traveling with my family and friends and making memories together.

I have a passion for learning and exploring new places. I was born in the beautiful Kingdom of Eswatini, where I spent my childhood. When I was 16, I moved to Canada for my high school education and then to the United States to attend college and graduate school. I love to share my experiences and culture with others.

I am always grateful for my late father, Themba, who is my hero and role model. He came from a poor background but worked hard to give his eight children a good life. He taught me to love, to be wise, to be selfless, and to work hard. He also taught me a saying that means “The grass that grows deep roots early will be strong.” This saying inspires me to teach young minds to be confident and curious about themselves and the world they live in.
